Fry Basket Fish and Chips

Fry Basket is mainly a breakfast all day restaurant that also serves burgers, salads and seafood. Clean, fast and cheap! Also serves beer, wine and spirits.

For $5.45 you get three eggs, a huge portion of bacon, ham or sausage, fries or homefries, toast AND coffee or tea. For a bit higher meal price you can double up on the meat or instead have steak ($9.50) or peameal bacon ($6.95). I saw other customers substituting tomatoes and cucumbers instead of the potatoe for no extra cost!

My breakfast was $6.16 with tax. The SIX strips of bacon were heavenly. The eggs were cooked perfectly to my order. The home fries were big and chunky and delicious. Home made! Their french fries are home made daily as well, I was told. The portions were HUGE and delicious. The service was excellent.

The decor was a bit out-dated but the restaurant and bathrooms were very clean. I had a conversation with a couple who have been eating there for twelve years. Apparantly at least half of the clientelle are regulars - which is always a good indicator of consistant great service and food.

I'd totally eat there again. Next time I'm having the fish. The table behind me all ordered the fish and chips and did nothing but oooh and awww about the size and taste of their meal. Also huge and yummy looking was their daily chicken fingers special. Another plus, I was told they are open on days like Christmas and Labour Day when a lot of other restaurants in the area are closed for the holidays! Very friendly staff.

I don't know about the cockroach comment of the other rater... I didn't see any. My guess would be a disgruntled ex employee maybe? There were never more than 2 or 3 empty tables in the place while I was there. Also, they have a section where you can push tables together for larger parties of friends and family! Frankly, Fry Basket has spoiled me for anywhere else now. Why pay more for smaller portions and bland greasy bacon at a chain restaurant, when you can pay $6.16 for a filling taste of heaven compliments of a local mom and pop?

Best breakfast I ever had. Bacon to die for and an amazing omlet. Great family restaurant and great service.

Best Fish and Chips in toronto. As a Brit who grew up in the GTA finding a restaurant that can make a great fish and chip dish like back has been a task. But the Fry Basket is the best ...a one peice is actually a two peice at other restuarants and there chips are chips not french fries. Batter amazing and so tender and the staff is amazing! You will not be disapointed!
